[edit] Gospel Hall Brethren Connection
(and see, Needed Truth Brethren)
While I believe the Gospel Hall connection is valid, I have not had time to elaborate on it. I am hoping that someone with a much more historical (but unbiased) view can polish this up. I know that some in the Gospel Hall have attempted to teach or imply that the Gospel Hall brethren are neither open nor exclusive, but are a completely different movement. I do not believe this is backed up by history, only perhaps, by wishful thinking. It is quite clear from Alexander Marshall's (auto)biography that in those early days there was substantial goings on between the Gospel Hall movement and the Open Brethren movement in Canada. Perhaps it is true that many of the assemblies in Scotland sprang from the 1859 Revival, but it is also quite clear historically that those men were connected to the the Open Brethren.
At any rate, my comments are not scholarly, and I hope that someone with better access and more time can work on this in an objective manner.
