Talk:Exclusive Brethren

This should not have quite so much about the Taylorites. Instead, there should be an article devoted wholy to the Taylorites, and this one should be about Exclusives in general. The problem is that many people already think "Taylorite" when they hear the term "Exclusive Brethren". But there are many other Exclusives that are not that much different than Bible Chapel brethren. They may differ on what modes of baptism are scriptural, and on reception to the Lord's Table - Although generally speaking, both Bible Chapel Brethren and the Kelly-Lowe-Glanton exclusives believe that reception should be on the grounds of the One Body. This is in contrast to the Gospel Hall view that reception is not to the table, but to the assembly and is based on assembly fellowship. The philosophy of the Gospel Hall and the Exlusives may differ, but with similar results in the end. Anyway, my point is that people should not be thinking "Taylorite" automatically when the think "Exclusive".

Notice this intesting comment from wikipedia that supports what I am saying:

This is because many groups of Non Symington/Taylor Exclusive Brethren are in fact more open in receiving known believers to the Lord's Table than some Open Brethren. They included:

  • Ames Brethren (USA and Bahamas only)
  • Glanton Brethren
  • Kelly Brethren
  • Lowe (Elberfelder)Brethren
  • Tunbridge Wells Brethren
  • Brethren from 1827
