God is the Supreme Being of the universe. He is the first cause.

God is revealed as benevolent, just and holy. Though he is transcendent from his creation he has revealed himself to be a personal God, rather than an impersonal force. He is omnipotent, and omniscient.

The Bible calls God by many names.

EL: God ("mighty, strong, prominent") (Hebrew: אל)

ELOHIM: God (a plural noun, more than two, used with singular verbs) (Hebrew: אלהים)

EL SHADDAI: God Almighty or "God All Sufficient."

EL `ELYON: "Most High" (from "to go up")

El Ro'i: "God of Seeing"

EL-OLAM: "Everlasting God" (God of everlasting time)

EL-BERITH: "God of the Covenant"

EL-GIBHOR: "Mighty God"

El Gibbor: "God of Strength"

El Hai: "Living God"

El Elohe Israel: "God, the God of Israel"

JEHOVAH: "The Self-Existent One", (Hebrew: יהוה) "I AM (Hebrew: אהיה)", I am that I am (Hebrew: אהיה אשר אהיה, pronounced: Ehyeh asher ehyeh) , ''Yahweh'' is the covenant name of God. Sh'ma uses both Jehovah and Elohim to indicate one God with a plurality of persons.

JEHOVAH-JIREH: "The Lord will Provide."

JEHOVAH-ROPHE: "The Lord Who Heals" (Ropheka)

JEHOVAH-NISSI: "The Lord Our Banner."

JEHOVAH-M'KADDESH: "The Lord Who Sanctifies" (Mekaddishkem)

JEHOVAH-SHALOM: "The Lord Our Peace", (Hebrew: שלום), Shalom means that kind of peace that results from being a whole person in right relationship to God and to one's fellow man.

JEHOVAH ELOHIM: "LORD God" (Hebrew: אלהים)

JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU "The Lord Our Righteousness"

JEHOVAH-ROHI: "The Lord Our Shepherd"

JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH: "The Lord is There", (Hebrew: שכינה)

JEHOVAH-SABAOTH: "The Lord of Hosts" The commander of the angelic host and the armies of God.

JEHOVAH-HOSHUA: "Jehovah is Salvation", Joshua (Y'shua), Jesus

JEHOVAH-HOSEENU: "The Lord our Maker"

ADONAI-JEHOVAH: "Master", "Lord", "Sovereign Ruler" (Hebrew: אֲדֹנָי - יהוה)
