Church is the word most commonly used for the Greek word εκκλησια. The word 'church' refers to the Body of Christ, but is avoided in most Brethren circles because of the Roman Catholic usage of the word to refer to that denomination, or the use of the word by many denominations to refer to a place of worship. The word 'assembly' is prefered instead.
