Christian Missions In Many Lands, Inc. CMML was established in 1921 as a nonprofit, faith based missionary service organization to serve missionaries commended by local churches designated by the United States government as plymouth brethren. These local churches are autonomous without any central committee or headquarters. Based on New Testament principles, missionaries are called by the Lord, commended by their local assembly and look to the Lord alone for direction and to supply their financial needs. As a missionary service organization, CMML bridges the gap between the missionaries on the field and their assemblies at home. CMML serves by forwarding unsolicited, free will contributions to the missionaries and by disseminating information on their activities to the Christians at home through this site, the Missionary Prayer Handbook and Missions magazine. [edit] The following comments more fully describe our daily service operations:
Handling Funds: A tax-deductible gift receipt is provided to the donor for each charitable contribution received by CMML; 100% of each gift is distributed to the Lord's servants in accordance with the donor's wishes. As CMML is itself a faith-based organization, only funds specifically designated for CMML Expense are used to defray operating expense. For these gifts, CMML is thankful to each donor and the Lord.
At the request of many donors, CMML has been asked to provide counsel on the preparation of gifts to help expedite the processing upon receipt by the office and to ensure efficient and timely remittance to the missionary(ies). We would suggest the following:
• Each remittance shall be made payable to the order of Christian Missions In Many Lands, Inc. (or CMML, Inc.);
• Please include a separate note that includes the donor's full name and mailing address. If there are two donors, please indicate if the gift is from one or both individuals. This note should read... "We suggest this gift be given to the missionary project under the direction of [...missionary name(s)...]";
• Also please include the full name of the missionary(ies). There are several with the same last names; the name of the spouse and/or the country of service is often helpful.
CMML's policy is to distribute funds for receipt by the missionary on or before the 1st of each month. Accordingly, we establish a monthly "cutoff" date to allow for processing time in the office and the transfer of funds direct to the missionary or their respective bank. These cutoff dates are listed in Missions magazine. CMML information takes from Home site
[edit] CMML can also work with you on planned giving programs such as:
• Charitable Gift Annuities
• Charitable Remainder Trusts
• Living Trusts
Accommodations: CMML has housing facilities available for missionaries outbound to or inbound from their mission field. These rooms are comfortable and tastefully furnished and used to house singles, couples and families. During their stay, arrangements can be made to visit with the nearby assemblies.
Clothing Center: New (and almost new) garments are available free of charge to commended workers and missionaries as needed. Clothing as well as funds to purchase clothing are contributed from near and far and the clothing center is organized and maintained by volunteer help.
Children's Education: A Missionary Education Assistance Fund (M.E.A.F.) was established in 1968. Funds disbursed from this fund help defray the educational expenses of the missionaries' children through high school. While it does not meet the total educational costs, it has been a proven blessing to the Lord's servants.
Widows and Retired Missionaries: Disbursements from the Widows and Retired Missionary Fund [W.A.R.M.] are used to remember those who have returned from the mission field as widows or widowers and those who have come home for reasons of health and/or age.
Emergencies: CMML established an Emergency Fund to provide funds and assistance to a missionary when there is a need to come home from the field on short notice.
Disasters: In the event of a disaster (i.e.: earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, etc.), donors have designated monies to the Disaster Fund to provide immediate assistance for those in need.
Government Requirements: Upon request, CMML provides counsel and advice to assist in obtaining visas and other required documentation. In many instances, missionaries going to a foreign field are required to register with the local government. Letters of Guarantee or other forms of warranty are provided as required by the local government
Missionary Prayer Handbook: To stimulate interest and prayer for assembly missionaries, CMML publishes an annual Missionary Prayer Handbook. This handbook provides a listing of the missionaries in the countries where they serve. The pages correspond to calendar days of the month to encourage regular and systematic prayer.
Missions Magazine: Published eleven times each year, the magazine is designed to stimulate interest in missionaries, their work and the countries where they serve. The articles, editorials, reports, and excerpts from missionary letters keep readers abreast of the happenings of assembly missionaries around the world. Missions magazine is available upon request at no cost to readers with addresses in the United States.
Publications, Literature, and Videos: CMML produces many assembly-related materials, with a missions orientation as well as those of a practical nature for the building up of believers. Published material is made available at CMML's cost and videos are available for purchase or rental. CMML information takes from Home site
[edit] Some of the video productions are:
• Commendation (a very useful video for assembly elders about commendation).
• The Last Command (historical overview of assembly missionary work worldwide).
In addition to these, CMML director(s) will visit your assembly with a new video entitled CMML Serves (approximately fifteen minutes). We hope this video and subsequent discussion can answer any and all questions about our ministry.
Conferences: CMML sponsors several one-day conferences each year. These include a men's conference held each Spring and a general conference each Fall (see the Conference page for details). Upon request, Regional Conferences are held around the country to assist assembly believers in other areas. CMML information takes from Home site
