BrethrenPedia:NPOV Dispute
From BrethrenPedia
In a specialist wiki such as BrethrenPedia it can be very difficult to maintain a neutral point of view. I guess most users who post here will be either involved in the Brethren or sympathetic to the movement and its history. Is there a real NPOV policy for this wiki? 86.141.234.82 14:09, 15 June 2006 (EDT)
I'm sure just the nature of the make up of the Brethren assemblies will help to bring various viewpoints to the articles. If someone writes about the KLC Brethren, one of the adherents of that party may see the article and add clarification to it. The article will not be neutral, per se, but could approach neutrality by means of various points of view. This will work so long as each reviser is gracious enough to leave the original point, and only ADD to it with clarification.
I started an article on the Gospel Hall connection to the Needed Truth movement. I believe there is a connection. Some in the Gospel Hall's may dispute this. Instead of a Gospel Haller deleting everything I and others may write about the connection, they could post a disputing point of view, and hopefully offer historical evidence that would show that I am wrong. I do believe Norman Crawford has indicated that the Gospel Hall brethren never has been connected to the Open Brethren, and that it is a separate, distinct work of the Holy Spirit originating in Scotland. This view should be welcome, as should also the views of those that this is an over simplification of the facts.
In time, the various points of view can be re-written to as close as is possible, a NPOV.
