[edit] History
In the southeastern section of British Columbia, about 350 miles from Vancouver and close to the Washington state border, were three assemblies. At Castlegar, the assembly of about 30 built the 5th and Elm Gospel Hall in 1954. In this mining and smelting area, older assemblies were at the towns of Trail and Rossland. The assembly at Trail had a new building in 1954, Bethany Chapel, seating 120 in the main auditorium. The assembly at Rossland, a mountain city of 5000, rented the main floor of a three story building on one of the principal corners of the city during the 1940s. The building had been used as a dance hall, a store, and a miniature golf course. The assembly purchased the building and remodeled it to provide an auditorium seating 200, and other rooms. B. P. Sutherland was one of the leaders at the Rossland Gospel Hall later called Rossland Gospel Chapel. All three of these assemblies have disbanded.
